A second notebook whose pages are encrypted with a key made from a passphrase plus the server key. It is unlocked into memory only (15 minutes idle, Lock, or sign-out), is not in search, lists or downloads of the ordinary notebook, and limits wrong guesses.

The page's hidden text box also heard the live view's edits and showed its own menu in the wrong place, and the live line's menu was dropped when the view redrew. Only the box in use suggests now, the menu re-attaches when shown, and the caret lands inside a new code block.

Pages are sealed with AES-256-GCM. Each person's key is derived (HKDF) from a master key in the settings file plus their Authentik issuer and subject. Plain files from earlier versions are read and re-saved encrypted. Mako refuses to open a notebook it cannot decrypt rather than overwrite it.

Pages open in Live mode, where every line is rendered except the one being
edited, with Edit (plain markdown) and View (fully rendered) beside it.
Arrow keys, Backspace and Delete move between lines, code blocks are edited
as a whole, and edits are spliced back into the one text the rest of the
editor already saves.

Sign-in is now OpenID Connect against Authentik (authorization code flow
with PKCE, state and nonce). The password, API tokens and the add command
are gone; each person who signs in gets a private notebook in a folder
named from a hash of who they are. An optional allowed list is checked on
every request.
Notes become pages with titles, a tree of subpages, [[links]] with
backlinks that follow renames, a Ctrl+K finder, slash commands, list
continuation, and Write and Read modes. Autosave keeps the text through a
dropped connection or an expired session. Export opens as an Obsidian vault.

Plain markdown files, tags by typing #hashtags, a page per day, search,
pin and trash with undo, autosave with conflict warnings, API tokens,
zip export, and the Lightwell dashboard. Includes install.sh, CI and
release workflows.
